The core of this problem isn’t about marketing; but about identity. As engineers, we’re driven by the thrill of solving puzzles. We get a hit of dopamine from the challenge and the learning process. Once the problem is solved—the app is built—our brain says, “Puzzle complete! What’s next?” This cycle of learning and achievement is what fuels us, but it’s a poor foundation for building a business.
